TINY Kitchen Weekend: Sweet & Savory Asian Wings

Like any good and decent human being, I love wings. Especially buffalo wings. My third date with my husband was over 10-cent buffalo wings at an Irish bar in New York City. I've been known to stock up on Frank's like it's getting discontinued on a fairly regular basis. My most popular recipe with my family: my buffalo chicken dip. So, as you can imagine, buffalo wings are a pretty expected treat here at the TINY Kitchen. And mine are great - I have to say. The secret is a killer combination of Frank's Buffalo Sauce and butter. So simple. So good.

In an attempt to expand my wing repertoire to include more than buffalo, I decided to get in the TINY Kitchen and craft my own sweet asian wing recipe. I was able to use items already in our fridge to create this yummy marinade, and the result was fantastic! These sweet and savory wings were gobbled up in minutes. We can't wait to make them again. They're perfect for parties and game days, or even a fun weekend dinner main dish (with an asian slaw side, perhaps?). I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

INGREDIENTS

1 lb chicken wings, cut into segments and tips discarded

1 lemon

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup balsamic salad dressing

1/4 cup melted butter

2 1/2 tbs soy marinade (we use Soy Vay)

1 tbs BBQ sauce (we are Sweet Baby Ray's fans here, but you can use any brand you like!)

2 tsp fish sauce

1 tsp ground ginger

1/2 tsp oregano

1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp garlic salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees

  • Line a large baking dish with foil, and spray with coconut oil - or a comparable spray oil - to grease the foil

  • Place prepped chicken wings in a large mixing bowl, set aside

  • In a small mixing bowl, combine honey, balsamic, melted butter, soy marinade, BBQ sauces, fish sauce, and your spices

  • Zest your lemon and add to mixture in bowl

  • Slice lemon in half and add juice from one half

  • Stir all ingredients to combine

  • Pour mixture over the wings and using a large slotted spoon or spatula, turn wings to evenly coat with the mixture

  • Using tongs, carefully move wings from mixing bowl one-by-one into a single layer inside your foil-lined baking dish. If you have extra sauce remaining, drizzle over wings

  • Place in oven and bake for 45 minutes

  • Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving

  • ENJOY!

TIP: If you have a bit of time on your hands, place your coated wings in the fridge for one hour prior to baking to allow the marinade flavor to really set in.
